Does Your Hospital have Advanced Certification For Joint Replacement?

Dr. Harris took the time to sit down and announce some exciting news that San Antonio Orthopaedic Specialists is proud to be a part of.

The surgeons of the San Antonio Orthopaedic Specialists have long provided unparalleled orthopedic care, in particular with regard to joint replacement surgery. We are now partnering with the South Texas Spine and Surgical Hospital to obtain for the hospital, a certification for advanced total joint programs.

This program with the government and the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, certifying that we have excellence in care for joint replacement at that hospital. For more than a decade, the government has tried to measure quality of orthopedic care. It's always been with good intentions, but not always with great results. And the measures that they've had in the past have not always been good representations of what is quality care. But more recently, in conjunction with the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, this list of what is good quality is far superior. And so they have established a certification for advanced joint replacement programs.

So the surgeons of San Antonio Orthopaedic Specialists, in conjunction with the Spine and Surgical Hospital South Texas, expect soon to receive a certification as an advanced joint replacement program. This further assures patients that the care that you get both from our physicians and from the hospital is truly excellent.

UPDATE: As of September 2022, South Texas Spine & Surgical Center is now accredited as an Advanced Total Joint Program. SAOS physicians Dr. Harris and Dr. Broome perform all of their total knee and hip replacements at South Texas Spine & Surgical Hospital. It has been and always will be a top priority to provide unparalleled orthopaedic care for each of our patients.
